International MEMS/MST Industry Forum

October 7-8, 2013, Dresden, Germany

SEMICON Europa 2013

“Taking MEMS to the next level”

The conference will review current and future applications of MEMS in session 1 and 4. Smartphones and tablets are not the only fuel for growth, as automotive mandates are also currently boosting the market for sensors. Over the next 5 years, MEMS will become increasingly important in medical applications supporting mobile health, assisted living and new therapeutics schemes. Finally we should forget industrial processing, smart buildings and more generally the emerging concept of “the internet of things” as further propellants for the market.

Session 2 examines viable production concepts and business models supporting growth. IDMs may rule today, but the future is fabless. Is the necessary foundry infrastructure in place? Will standards emerge as the industry matures? How can one address the needs of the higher value but smaller volume applications?

Finally, session 3 discusses material and process requirements that are needed to bring MEMS technology to the next level.
