Our topic 2024: Data Science for Nanofabrication
The Fraunhofer ENAS Winter School 2024 is dedicated to the topic »Data Science for Nanofabrication«. Complex nanotechnology fabrication processes are needed to produce, for example, transistors made of carbon nanotubes for faster and more efficient computers or high-precision inertial sensors based on nano-electro-mechanical systems (NEMS) for robotics, medical technology and autonomous driving. Mass production of nanotechnology – tiny structures a few atomic layers in size – needs optimized and standardized processes that require an in-depth understanding of the complex manufacturing processes. The use of artificial intelligence and data science has given nanofabrication a tremendous boost in recent years. AI algorithms accelerate complex physical simulations and analyze massive data sets quickly and effectively, yielding new insights. Combining expert knowledge, physics models and manufacturing data, Digital Twins are created, enabling virtual testing and precise monitoring and optimization of manufacturing processes.
