"Communication Creates Opportunities" is the starting point for the design of the building opened in 2009 for the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS in Chemnitz. "Our house is a place of communication because communication is an important success factor for research and development work. With the new Fraunhofer building, we have created a place where our scientists can conduct research in a very pleasant environment," said the then institute director and initiator of the exhibition series, Prof. Thomas Geßner, about the Chemnitz site of the research facility.

To explore the diverse opportunities created by communication, Fraunhofer ENAS is exploring a novel perspective for the research institute by opening its doors to art. In the exhibition series "Science Meets Art," two regional artists are invited each year to display their works in the Fraunhofer building on the Smart Systems Campus Chemnitz.

Tilman Hornig's works respond to current events. His approach is both intuitive and conceptually cross-media. The photographs displayed in the exhibition explore, among other things, the cultural impact of media, technology, and their carrier objects.
