Broad expertise in research and industry

Prof. Kuhn studied materials science at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and completed his doctorate there. He has many years of international experience in the semiconductor industry and has held various management positions at Siemens and Infineon. His work focused on the areas of automation, research & development and smart systems. Since 2020, Prof. Kuhn has held the professorship "Smart Systems Integration" at Chemnitz University of Technology. At the "Center for Microtechnologies" located there, he also took over the function of director in 2021.

Driving forward networking and knowledge exchange in the high-tech industry

He is now looking forward to his new task at the industrially oriented trade association IVAM with anticipation and clear ideas. "Microtechnology forms the basis for meeting central technological challenges of our society and it is an enabler for the development of future key technologies. Crucial for success is cross-sector networking of know-how between research and industry in order to drive innovations forward, quickly transfer them into usable solutions and thus jointly secure advantages in the international competitive environment. As Chairman of the Advisory Board, I would like to support IVAM with all my strength in driving this networking and knowledge exchange in our high-tech industry as a 'value-add'. I am looking forward to exciting encounters, interesting discussions and constructive cooperation", Prof. Kuhn explains the motivation for his commitment.

"We are delighted to have Prof. Kuhn, a proven international expert in smart systems and automation technology, on board. We are also particularly pleased to further intensify the long-standing good cooperation with Fraunhofer ENAS," welcomes Dr. Thomas Dietrich, Managing Director of IVAM.

In addition to Prof. Dr. Harald Kuhn, the four-member scientific advisory board includes Prof. Dr. Uwe Kleinkes from Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Krühne from the Technical University of Denmark, and Prof. Dr. Ralf-Joachim Schulz from St. Marien-Hospital, teaching hospital of the University of Cologne.
