The Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS is the specialist and development partner in the field of intelligent systems and their integration for various applications. In the three business units Process, Device and Packaging Technologies, Intelligent Sensor and Actuator Systems and Systems and Applications, we address topics from the technology development to components, from System on a Chip (SoC), System in a Package (SiP) to System of Systems (SoS). This definition corresponds to the definition of systems in the ECS SRIA - the Electronic Components and Systems (ECS) Strategic Roadmap Agenda (SRIA), which is jointly developed and published by the three industry associations AENEAS, EPoSS and Inside. It contains the priority areas for research and development in electronic components and systems and key digital technologies (KDT) for the next 10-15 years.
Smart Systems are, according to the EPoSS definition, mainly driven by the business unit Intelligent Sensor and Actuator Systems, Systems of Systems in the business unit Systems and Applications, which focuses more on the development of application demonstrators in the context of upstream product development. The development results of the first two business units extend to the component or subsystem level. Since the Systems and Applications business unit is focused on applications, application-ready subsystems (SoC and SiP) are also linked to this business unit.
The overlapping topics of Reliability and Artificial Intelligence within the Functional Teams, as well as the core topics of Preliminary Research, Fab Management and Corporate Strategy are presented in the Overlapping Topics area.
