Aerosol Jet Printing

The aerosol jet technology is a direct maskless writing technology. Fraunhofer ENAS uses the aerosol jet for printing small structures on planar and topographic substrates and surfaces. Besides polymeres also nanoparticle-based inks are processed and investigated to fabricate isolating and conductive structures.

The inks are atomized to an aerosol. By focussing the aerosol jet, lines of 10 µm width can be fabricated at the substrate. In combining with the printing speed of 100 mm/s, sophisticated designs can be realized.

The investigation focusses on the application of this technology for packaging in the micro systems technology.
