Silicon Saxony e.V. is Europe’s largest trade association for the microelectronic industry. It was founded on December 19th, 2000 as a network for the semiconductor, electronic and micro system industry. The association connects manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, colleges, research institutes and public institutions in the economic location of Saxony. The current number of members has risen to 256. The member companies employ about 25,000 people and the total turnover of the companies is 3.5 billion € per year. The ZfM belongs to the foundation members.
10 working groups are working within the network. The working group “Smart Integrated Systems” has been founded on October 15th, 2007 during the 2nd Micro System technology Congress in Dresden. It is led by Prof. Thomas Gessner.
